September 4th  – India Vs Pakistan Match Analysis

On September 4th, India played against Pakistan for the second time in the 2022 Asia Cup. The Indian team won the first match, but on September 4th, Pakistan finally pulled off a brilliant chase and won the game. So the equation now stands in 1-1 in this series between these two teams. Virat Kohli’s 60-run innings from 44 balls and some misfields by Fakhar Zaman during the match’s end helped India reach 181/7 at the end of 20 overs.

During the chasing, India started brilliantly by getting Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman wickets quite early without much damage and stayed clear at the top. At this stage of the inning, Pakistan was undoubtedly at the backfoot, but Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Rizwan changed the game. Their 73 runs partnership from just 41 deliveries can be considered a game-changing moment. Later, Asif Ali almost took Pakistan home when Arshdeep Singh dropped an easy catch of him at a very crucial moment. Arshdeep took his revenge later when just two balls were left, and Pakistan still needed two runs to win the match. But in the next ball, Pakistan managed to take that two runs and won the game easily with five wickets in hand. It was the toss time, and Pakistan won the toss and elected bowling first. Two changes in the Indian team, Deepak Hooda and Ravi Bishnoi were included in the eleven and one change for Pakistan, Mohammed Hasnain, came in.

It was an exciting decision the take Deepak Hooda in place of Dinesh Karthik, who is known to be a great finisher in recent times. With SKY, Hardik and Pant, the middle order was looking quite solid.

Over 1

After the first over, India was 11/0; Rohit Sharma hit 1 four and a six against Naseem Shah. Both the shots were quite good looking to watch.

Over 2

India was 20/0 after the 2nd over was completed. In this through, Rohit hit a boundary of a 146 km/hr delivery from Mohammad Hasnain.

Till 5th over India was 54/0, going at an excellent strike, both the two openers, Rohit and Rahul.

Over 6

Rohit got out for 28 runs and was trying to hit the ball for a six against Haris Rauf but edged, and the ball straight went up, and the catch was taken after a collision also, but Khushdil Shah held till the end. The ball was a bit slower than usual, and Rohit could not be timed that well. Kohli came to the crease after that and opened his account by taking a single.

Over 7

Just in the next over, KL Rahul also got out again, trying to hit the ball, but it went straight to the long-on fielder. He also got out for 28 against Shadab Khan. India was now 71/2. SKY came to the crease and hit for a four on his very first ball to the backward point region. Kohli ended the over with a four through the deep mid-wicket region. It became expensive over, but both the openers were back to the pavilion.

Till the 9th over, the partnership was going at a perfect rate and helped India to reach the 90s. After 9, India was 93/2.

Over 10

Suryakumar got out mistiming a slog-sweep against Nawaz for just 13 runs. The previous match’s Man of the Match was gone, and Rishabh Pant came to the crease at no 5.

India was going quite steadily till the 13th over. India was 126/3 after the end of the 13th over.

Over 14

Pant attempted to hit the ball by stepping out of the crease, but he edged the ball. It passed the wicketkeeper and went for a four. The very next ball, he got out trying to reverse sweep and straight to the point fielder. Shadab again took a wicket, Pant went for 14, and Hardik came out to the crease to bat.

Over 15

In the first ball, Kohli was able to take two runs. Second ball Kohli again took a single. Hardik faced his first ball and chipped straight to the mid-wicket fielder. The extra pace from Hasnain forced Hardik to play and got out for zero. Deepak Hooda came out to bat after him. India was now 135/5 after the end of the 15th over.

In the 18th over, Kohli reached his second fifty of this 2022 Asia Cup. He played pretty brilliantly, and he, along with Hooda, took India to 164/5. Till the over number 19, Hooda supported quite well, but again trying to hit the ball, he scored 16 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar joined Kohli after Hooda got out.

Kohli’s inning of a fiery 60 helped India to reach 181/7 after the 20th over. It was a very competitive score; Pakistan had to bat quite well to reach this target.

The two openers of Pakistan, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, came to the crease to start their chase of 181 runs against India.

Over 1

Rizwan faced the first delivery and hit it for a four against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Pakistan ended the first over with 9/0.

Till the 3rd over, Pakistan was going quite steadily, reaching the score of 19/0.

Over 4

Bishnoi came to the attack and took the Pakistan captain’s wicket. Babar Azam got out for just 14, with two fours in that innings. Fakhar Zaman went to the crease at no 3.

Rizwan and Fakhar were going at an excellent rate and scoring freely. Both of them helped Pakistan to reach 67/1 after the 8th over.

Over 9

Fakhar got out against Chahal for just 15. Nawaz came to the crease and hit a four on the first delivery, but it happened due to a misfield by Arshdeep.

After this, Pakistan never looked back. They continued to play exceptionally well throughout the innings. Rizwan and Nawaz played brilliantly, especially the knock of 71 runs. Rizwan made the difference.

In the 18th over, Arshdeep dropped a straightforward catch of Asif Ali at zero runs. If the catch was taken, then the result could be different. But overall, we cannot blame him as he is just a young kid. Pakistan played well, and at last, Pakistan won the match by one ball spare for five wickets.

The match was overall a very high-intensity match. The team who played well overall won the game at last. But next time, we can expect that team India will try to bounce back again.
